After three and a half years there, his body and soul healed, he was able to return home to an environment that had now become harmonious and, after a long period of hesitation, he was able to realize all the works that had previously only existed in his head, which were already formed according to musical laws that he had never known before. A visit to Delphi introduced him to the myth of Apollo. According to this myth, the god overcame a dragon, was therefore sent into exile by Zeus and, when he was allowed to return home after his atonement, founded art. When the composer, after a drink from the Castalian spring, tried in vain to decipher the musical notes carved in the Athenian treasure house, he suddenly heard the Athenians’ song of praise, accompanied by shawms, horns and kithars; and he wondered at the strange ending they had. This was followed, in an elemental outburst, by the inspiration of the entire symphony.

It was designed in such a way that the naming of its movements was self-evident: Dragon Fight, Banishment, Homecoming and Foundation of Art. Its opening movement brings the battle in the main theme, the joy of victory in the secondary theme and triumph in the final group. The following Andante molto is characterized by depression as a result of the expulsion, defiance against fate and hope for redemption. In the Scherzo, with the Athenian song of praise as a trio, jubilation breaks out over the return home. The finale, as the foundation of art, develops its three fundamental themes: Man, Woman and Child, which it unites into a family in the triple fugues of the development and coda. Thus, linked to the myth, the fate of the composer, similar to that of the myth, has also taken shape in sound.
Johann Karl Regber

FIRST PRINT

Instrumentation: 2 Fl, 2 Ob, 2 Klar, 2 Fg, 4 Hn, 2 Tp; Timp; Strings Duration: 41:00 Having narrowly escaped death after a severe stroke of fate, a customs office that had been half depopulated due to smuggling and was looking for officials offered the composer the opportunity to leave all his troubles behind […]

[30,31,22

0":"post-1253","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-regber-johann-karl","7":"product_cat-sinfonien","8":"product_cat-english","10":"first","11":"instock","12":"shipping-taxable","13":"product-type-grouped
["GET
