Sei uns stets gegr\u00fc\u00dft, o Nacht,
\naber doppelt hier im Wald,
\nwo dein Aug’ verstohlner lacht,
\nwo dein Fu\u00dftritt leiser hallt!<\/p>\n
Auf der Zweige Laubpokale
\ngie\u00dfest du dein Silber aus;
\nh\u00e4ngst den Mond mit seinem Strahle
\nuns als Lamp’ ins Bl\u00e4tterhaus.<\/p>\n
S\u00e4uselnde L\u00fcftchen sind deine Reden,
\nspinnende Strahlen sind deine F\u00e4den,
\nwas nur dein Mund beschwichtigend traf,
\nsenket das Aug’ und sinket in Schlaf!<\/p>\n
Und doch, es ist zum Schlafen zu sch\u00f6n,
\ndrum auf, und weckt mit H\u00f6rnerget\u00f6n,
\nmit hellerer Kl\u00e4nge Wellenschlag,
\nwas fr\u00fch bet\u00e4ubt im Schlummer lag!<\/p>\n
Es regt in den Lauben des Waldes sich schon,
\ndie V\u00f6glein, sie glauben, die Nacht sei entflohn,
\ndie wandernden Rehe verlieren sich zag;
\nsie w\u00e4hnen, es gehe schon bald an den Tag,
\ndie Wipfel des Waldes erbrausen mit Macht,
\nvom Quell her erschallt es, als w\u00e4r’ er erwacht!<\/p>\n
Und rufen wir im Sange:
\n“Die Nacht ist im Walde daheim!”,
\nso ruft auch Echo lange:
\n“Sie ist im Wald daheim!”
\nDrum sein uns doppelt hier im Wald gegr\u00fc\u00dft,
\no holde, holde Nacht,
\nwo Alles, was dich sch\u00f6n uns malt,
\nuns noch weit sch\u00f6ner lacht.<\/p>\n
