The “Parthie in Bb” by Joseph Triebensee is contained in the Harmoniemusiksammlung des Fürsten Liechtenstein (Vienna), which can be found under the shelfmark MusHs.3739 in the music collection of the Austrian National Library.

The four-movement work is virtuosic, effective and a real enrichment of the harmonie music repertoire.

Joseph Triebensee (born in 1772 in Wittingau, today Třeboň in Moravia) was one of those Bohemian musicians who were drawn to the nearby imperial capital of Vienna to make their fortune in the center of music and art. And so we find the only 18-year-old Triebensee at the podium of the 2nd oboe at the premiere of Mozart’s “Magic Flute”, and just a few years later in the service of the House of Liechtenstein – as leader of the permanently engaged Harmoniemusik, for which he also composed this parthia.
