Instrumentation: flute, violoncello, percussion (1 player)
Difficulty: difficult
Duration: 20:00

“ANAMNESIS” is a term from Plato’s epistemology and theory of the soul and means “recollection of an earlier being”. According to this theory, the human soul is immortal; it therefore exists before a person is born and also after their death. Knowledge, however, remains anchored in the soul and is immortal.
The composition aims to depict this perpetual state of the soul – laid out as a cycle: beginning = end, end = beginning.
At the center of the work – the now time – is the momentary physical existence, at the beginning and end the nucleus, the zero line, represented by a single tone, from which and towards which everything develops.
